Children at St. Luke’s
A-ha! You’re obviously
wondering what there is at St. Luke’s Church for lively, keen-to-learn
kids like YOU! Well you can be sure we think you’re important. Why?
Because Jesus thinks you’re important (check it out in your Bible -
Matthew chapter 19, verses 13 and 14). So at St. Luke’s we try very hard
to make you and the rest of your family welcome at our 11 o’clock Sunday
morning meeting, by caring for children and teaching you about God from
the Bible.
Crèche
If you’re under 3, you
probably don’t really understand much of what’s going on in a Sunday
service. We’re sure you’d much rather play, or do some colouring, or
have a story from the Bible read to you. Well the good news is some of the grown-ups
at St. Luke's take it in turns to look after you in our
purpose-built crèche (which is about the first thing you see when you
come into church), while your parents can learn from the Bible and sing
and pray with the other grown-ups!
Word Alive
If you’re aged between 4
and 16, you’ll be pleased to know we have something special on a Sunday
morning for you too! It’s called Word Alive (some churches call it
Sunday School, but we hope it’s more fun than school!), and it happens
in the church hall. After the first 20 minutes of the service our Word
Alive leaders will take you to the hall and you’ll go into one of two
groups – one for 4-9 year-olds, one for 10-16 year-olds – to learn
about God and his great rescue plan for the world from the Bible. We even
promise to give you back to your parents afterwards!!
Note for parents!
All adults who teach or
supervise children at St. Luke’s on a Sunday morning are required to
comply with the Diocese of Lichfield’s child protection policy (see www.lichfield.anglican.org/youth/goodprac.htm).
We undertake to make sure that there are always at least 2 adults per
group.
